Weekend Cuteness

Grandma Debbie gave Ally these super cute pants last month and I just LOVE them. One of Ally's new favorite things to do is open the bottom drawer of her dresser and pull things out, the funny thing is that we keep her socks in there and are always telling her to put the socks back. So Sunday she starts saying sock. A new word! Ally so happy!

Sunday afternoon we went shopping and bought Ally a good pair of walking shoes. If you click on this picture of her in the high chair you can see the shoes up close. She looks like such a big girl in "real shoes". Yes here she is eating all on her own - I guess she is a big girl, not our baby girl any more.

What a day!

Last Thursday, February 21, 2008 was a big day for Ally. We thought walking on her own was enough for one week, but apparently Ally was ready for more firsts. Keep reading for the story.
She looks so peaceful when she sleeps. I used to sleep like this and just could not resist taking a shot of her in the "frog pose".
But when she wakes up peaceful is not always the best word to use to describe her!
Ally has become really good at pointing to what she wants - we pick it up and she grabs for it if we guess right and she shakes her head no if we grab wrong. (It would be a fun game if only we could guess right more often.) So after several minutes of NOT being able to figure out what she wanted I finally took her out of the chair but she would not stop pointing and reaching toward the table where the yogurt container was. It was a full container, since she refused to let me feed it to her while she was in the high chair, so I picked up the yogurt and she was still reaching for the table, so I gave her the spoon and all of a sudden she was dipping the spoon into the yogurt and putting the spoon in her mouth. AMAZING - so of course Becky grabbed the camera and we took pictures to document the occasion.
She is so proud of herself! (and can you tell how proud I am?)
I ended up with yogurt all over me, and she did get alot in her mouth, even though it looks like she only got it on her face!
After dinner she found her gym bag and started taking stuff out of it, you can see a diaper behind her and her sippy cup next to her.
Yes Ally has a gym bag. For those of you who don't know, Becky and I have been working on losing weight for several months now. At Christmas we had lost 25 pounds each. We joined a gym in January and have managed to lose 10 more pounds a piece! Ally goes to the Nursery at the gym while Becky works out, and so she has her own gym bag with diapers, wipes, cheerios & water. I just love her bag - we bought it at Bean and it has a little girl with the same skin tone and hair as Ally embroidered on it. Lately Ally likes to carry it around while she walks thru the house.

She's walking across the room now!

Seriously, Ally took her first steps yesterday and today she is walking clear across the room. For those of you who know our house - she literally walked from the bookcase in the dining room (near our bedroom door) all the way into the middle of the living room. Then later in the evening she walked from the kitchen all the way into the living room. She can turn, pivot and walk. Yes it is still wobbly, but Becky and I are just amazed at this progress.

Tonight she stood in her pink chair - looked out the window and pointed to 2 dogs (being walked on a leash) and said Dog. She can recoginze dogs outside the window and say that they are dogs! I'm sure all parents feel this way about stuff like this, but we are just so psyched!

Today Ally had her 15 month doctor appt. She weighed in at 19lbs 8 oz (which is a 6oz gain from last month, so her doctor is pleased and told us to keep doing whatever we're doing). Ally is 29" tall and received a clean bill of health.

Now onto some cute pictures from today:
Becky cleaned out a lower cabinet of any breakables so Ally has a cabinet that she can play in.

We did leave the canned cat food in her cabinet, here she is walking with a can of cat food!

Ally made it to her chair and I had to take this picture to show off her tiny cute bottom. We LOVE this outfit she is wearing and the boots are just too cute.

Lounging in her chair!

She loves her fruit - this is apple she is eating!

I also wanted to say to anyone and everyone who reads this blog - thank-you. We are so thrilled and excited about Ally and everything she is accomplishing. We are incredibly proud of her and really enjoy sharing everything with you.

These boots were made for...

...WALKING! All day Ally had been standing up independently and looking stressed. She took her first steps late this afternoon, and did a number more throughout the evening. We are so excited, and already have a little walking video to share from her first day of walking.

Ally carefully placed her burp cloth on the floor and pretended to take a nap (with her eyes open)

Tonight she climbed up into my lap to sit with me and read a book.

And she's off!

Valentines and Playtime

Happy (Slightly Belated) Valentine's Day!

The cute heart shirt is from Grandma Debbie and the Valentine Mouse is from Great Aunt Martha!

We spent some time in the play room at the mall. She loved
to go down the slide - fast!

Her latest thing at home has been to lay prone on the floor to see different stuff while she's playing.

The Grandmarazzi

Ally and I are back home with Julie after a trip to visit with Grandma Debbie and Grandpa Dave/Poppy/PopPop/He-Who-Has-Not-Been-Named. Here are some of the photos Gma Debbie took...unfortunately I didn't get the ones she really liked uploaded before Ally's sleep schedule took over the computer room. We'll have to do some photo transfer, and I'll get some of the good shots uploaded.

Ally in the car, with her backseat buddy Grandma

It's tiny in this photo - but look, she's talking on the phone!

If you haven't noticed, we have a new look here at The Life of Ally - Nikki runs "Blogs for a Cause", and did a great job! She donates some of the money she makes on the service to charity (this month to Mayan Families!) and uses the rest to fund an upcoming humanitarian trip she is taking.

Little Peanut

Ally is, officially, a little peanut. (Whose Mama dresses her crazy [and comfy] when we get to stay at home and play!)

Hahahaha

Who, me?

Yes, Ally, that's right. At a weight check last week you came in at 19 pounds 2 ounces. Still okay for your percentile, still growing. But you are a little peanut!

Cut me some slack, moms! I only have 3 teeth!

In other news, this week Ally drank a lot of water out of Mommy's cup, and then had a little fun.

What's this cold stuff floating in the water?

Got one! Time to put it down Mommy's shirt!
