CA Road Trip Day 2 Part 2: The North Coast

After the Shipwreck we left Point Reyes driving north on Highway 1 along the coast. Amazing Ocean vistas and mountains and very winding roads.

Ally read for 90 minutes on the way to our next stop.

Gotta get taffy on the coast right? I’ve never seen so many flavors.

Turns off everywhere to stop and see the views.

We stopped for lunch in Gualala. Then on to Point Arena to see the lighthouse.

Ally finished her book and then watched Gilmore Girls on her IPad. She did look at the window when asked.

The lighthouse. 145 steps to the top.

This lighthouse originally had a Fresnel lens which was display in the museum there. It now runs on LED.

While Becky took the museum tour Ally and I headed outside for a photo shoot.

Some children were amazed at Ally’s skills.

Then it was time to climb. And yes all three of us did it.

We were able to go out on the observation balcony.

Where it was super windy.

It was an incredible view. The back down 145 stairs

We then got back in the car and continued driving north.
The views were truly amazing:

We made a quick stop at a beach on our way to Mendocino.

But by the time we got to Mendocino (which is where the TV show Murder She Wrote was filmed) Ally and I were toast. Just exhausted. We walked around a bit, got a snack and then back to the car to drive to our hotel in Fort Bragg for the night.
