Trying to be supportive

Becky and I decided it was time to be more supportive of Ally in her gymnastics endeavors. So we bought a gymnastics mat. It is 4'X8' but fold up to 2'X4" and fits in the closet when not in use.

We told Ally we had a surprise for her. She asked what and  then tried to guess for a few days until it came.
"is it clothes" NO
"is it socks" NO
"is it a book" NO
"is it clothes" NO
"is it toys" Sort of
"how big is it" bigger than you

It finally came and there she is with the box.

Opening the box with her scissors

So excited to see the surprise - a new mat of her very own!

We asked mama to do a forward roll (somersault) Mama was a bit hesitant

So Ally got dressed in her new leotard and demonstrated:
Stand Straight with your arms up
tuck your chin
bend over and tuck
roll
stand

Ally in process of roll

Then mama gave it a shot

But at the end mama did not stand up. Ally thought it was so funny.
I did too - but Becky was not so amused, especially that I took pictures of the whole thing!

We figured that practice once a week was not really enough for Ally to progress in gymnastics - that she really likes it and tries to practice at home, but with hardwood floors its just not safe. This way she has a safe place to work out on.
Musicians practice several times a week, baseball players throw the ball around, soccer kids kick a ball around, basketball players shoot hoops etc so we are happy to enable Ally to turn some cart wheels and rolls and work on her bridges in a safe way.
