Science Party

One of Ally’s classmates, Lizzie and her dad hosted the entire first grade for a Science Party.

This is what 35 kids looks like in a 2 bedroom apartment! There were 5 middle school girls who helped out running the different stations.

The first station was learning about energy – and how we can conserve it. There was a spinner about human powered transportation and a poster for each kid to write a way to save energy.

Then they made goop (also known as Oobleck, aka cornstarch and water)

Quicksand was next.

There was even a station at the neighbor’s house – soap tricks and m-n-ms.The kids were assigned a group to travel with. Ally was with Camila, Simon and Sophocles.

Back to Lizzie’s house where we saw ivory soap explode in the microwave. It was like snow.

Our last station was the dry ice. It was also the most fun, and Erik’s little brother Nicky joined the group for this. His dad said he had been watching the experiments for about an hour, but when Ally’s group came, he joined right in.

At the end of the party the kids watched a science themed episode of School House Rock. Ally is sitting in the middle between Nicky and her friend Daniela.
