The Party Recap

It's not quite 2 weeks late, but here is my Halloween Party recap post.

We asked Ally's former preschool teacher Jill to come help us out for the party. She even came dressed up as a mad crazed Patriots Fan.

I just love how excited Ally was before the party started.
For the record we were forecasted to get snow and ice and a bad storm the night before the party. I could not sleep, I was so worried we would have to cancel the party, and I just hated the thought of disappointing Ally. All week she would tell me how excited she was for the party.

The food table - we had simple snacks, animal crackers, grapes, some homemade cookies, a candy corn party mix I made and juice boxes and water.

Becky made the banners pictured for decorations.

One of my co-workers made us the giant pumpkin for a bean bag toss. We also had a Candy Corn relay race that was a huge hit. The kids had a small scoop that they used to get candy corn out of a giant bucket and carry the full scoop about 10 yards and empty it into a cup. The person who filled his/her cup first won. I think they just loved the idea of free access to all the candy corn and playing with food is always fun for this age group.

The tables were set up for crafts and then we had our ipod and speakers set up for a dancing area to the right.

We made and hung up signs to direct friends where to go in the community center to find the party.

Our family waiting for guests.

Ally working on her scratch art - this was one of the crafts.

Becky gathered us all in a circle to explain the games.

Ally was not thrilled at all to wear her costume during the party. She was embarrassed about being a dinosaur and afraid of what her friends would think. She kept saying "what if they laugh at me" She cried when we made her wear it, and everyone of her girlfriends came up to her and told her how much they liked her costume and that they thought it was "cool" or "neat" and "not silly at all". She basically refused to look at the camera once with it on and kept her head buried into my backside the whole time we made her wear it at the party.

Friends enjoying the party.

After the costume came off Ally was back to her happy cheerful self. Here she is with Adalis (in the red & black), Willow (blue & white cheerleader) and Alice (who was a unicorn but no longer has her costume on) running and then gliding on the gym floor on their knees.

Ally loved the craft table - here she is again with her friends, Willow, Adalis, and that is Stella as a princess with her back to us.

After the party, Jill came home with us and kept Ally occupied while we unpacked and put everything away. It was kind of stressful to host a party not at our house, but at the community center, but it was also nice too, to not have to worry about much clean up or set up.

Later that day Ally requested a fort to take a nap in. Well she did not want to take a nap, so we compromised by setting up a fort for her to rest in.

She slept for over 2 hours in the fort - such a nice "rest time"

While Ally rested I baked. I saw these cookies on the Internet and could not resist making them. It is orange colored cookie dough cut into a candy corn shape. Then dip the small end in white chocolate, and the large end in yellow colored white chocolate. It was pretty easy and the cookies were adorable. I brought them to our friends to Halloween night, and gave some to my friend who made the pumpkin cut out for us.
