Ally was so brave and strong this week. She completed her first week at the Pain Clinic. She reported it was fun everyday. I will say it seemed like she had an easier time of it than I did. Taking your child to a day treatment program everyday is a bit stressful and emotional. And I don't commute. Ever. But now I drive Ally 30-35 minutes to get there for 8:00am and with traffic it takes 50 minutes to get to my office. Then in the afternoon it takes about 20-25 minutes to get to the Clinic for 3:00, but at 4:00pm when we leave it takes another 45 minutes to get home. Phew, lots of car time for me, and Ally too.
It's hard work for Ally.
One night Ally called a friend from school to hear about how things were in 3rd grade.
On Tuesday Ally received her HEP (Home Exercise Program). It's about 45-60 minutes of exercises Ally is supposed to complete every night, and twice a day on the weekend. It is a lot of work:
heel raises, quad stretches, hip stretches, wall sits, ankle stretches with a band and:
Crab soccer!!
So we clear out the furniture from the living room and Becky and Ally play.
Ally also has a foam roller and works her quad muscles. Both on her stomach and back.
Rolling on her stomach was especially fun this evening.
Because with every roll Ally would poke mama!
And now the most poignant part of the week. Ally wrote this on Friday.
Wow. Ally should be very proud of those accomplishments, and we are too. Ally is a bit worried about her goals. But she is pretty committed once she sets her mind to something.
The weekend was tough. Getting the HEP completed is difficult, and Ally had some challenge goals at ballet. She did them, 10 leaps, 10 turns and 10 split jumps. She actually did 12, 12 and 16 so she could earn 40 minutes of choice time this week. It's a motivator the clinic set for her. For every thing she did she earned 1 minute of choice time. Ally's favorite thing is to do the Wii at PT. Many of you reading know how much Ally loves the Wii. It was very hard for Ally to complete the challenges, but she did it! Her first leaps since October!
This afternoon we invited one of the girls in her program, a 10 year old, Isobel, who us here from London to go to the Museum of Science with us. The girls had a wonderful time, and Isobel's mom and I had a nice time chatting. Becky stayed home and studied.
Here is a picture of Isobel and Ally as they learned about animal bones.
It was a very nice afternoon, and we made plans to go to the Aquarium next weekend.
