May 31- June 3, 2022 Spring Session

This week Ally attended Spring Session at school. She told someone recently that it is an “intensive out of classroom learning experience”

Her school’s Instagram said this about her experience:
In Therapeutic Horsemanship students spent time at a local stables learning about the different aspects of the program, including horse care, how riding instructors design lessons for people with disabilities and how horses aid in the development of physical skills such as balance and strength as well as social and behavioral skills.

It was not with an ideal social cohort for her but she managed to enjoy her time at the stables. And she especially appreciated the barn cats Duchess and Gus.

This is Bam the horse Ally got to know. She braided his hair and rode him one day.

Duchess the cat was really helpful to Ally. She told me after her first day that having cats around just made her feel better.

Friday the whole school gathers for an assembly and each group will do a short presentation about what they learned. Then there is a BBQ lunch and a formal Baccalaureate Ceremony that all students are required to attend. Commencement is Saturday but Ally is not close friends with any seniors and so will not attend.

Before school. Last day of 9th grade.

Walking across campus.

It’s been a positive 9th grade year but we are all happy it’s over now. 13 weeks of Summer until the first day of 10th grade. Before we know it she will be a senior and it will be her high school commencement.  I’m so very proud of how hard Ally has worked all year. I hope this summer she can relax and enjoy herself. We certainly are going to try and have fun!

On the way home we weee in a minor car accident! Another car sideswiped us at an intersection. We were pretty startled but ok and my car is not damaged too badly. We were able to continue our drive home with a stop at McDonald’s for celebration fries and a Fanta.

Once home Ally looked through her yearbook and took a nap. We are all so glad.

I am so very proud of Ally and keep telling her so.
