Easter Sunday started off just the three of us. Ally was really excited to get up and see her basket. The basket means a lot, since mama made it with her Grandma (Dolores), and the little bunny in front my Grandma made.
Ally got a little stuffed bunny, Carrots, a book.
m-n-ms in the shape of a carrot, and a new B.arbie DVD. Then it was time for her own personal egg hunt. There are special jeweled eggs Ally hunts for.
Ally told me the night before that she likes that the Easter Bunny leaves her eggs filled with Cheerios. She was pretty thrilled with all the egg filling.
Money – jelly beans, a peep and Cheerios!
Eventually it was time for breakfast, and to get ready for church. Ally picked out her dress. I had been searching for weeks for an Easter dress I thought she would like. Everyone I showed her she rejected. Then the day before Easter she saw this dress at the G.ap. And feel in love with it. Its long – a kid’s maxi-dress. It was a cold Easter, so she wore a long sleeve shirt, leggings and boots with her dress.
But she was beautiful and she loved it!
I thought Ally and Becky looked so cute, in their brown boots and their messenger bags slung across their bodies as we walked into church.
Ally could not resist a quick swing on the bar. 5 years now of this very same bar.
After church we went to our favorite spot in the square for turkey burgers and fries. Ally and Becky shared a lemonade. Ally ate all of her lunch – every last bite. We talked about how important it was to eat good food, especially if she wanted to eat candy later during our party.
When we got home we set up for our party. We were expecting 11 guests, but we only ended up with 5.
Ally worked on coloring pages before her friends came over. We had those out as an activity for kids to do while grown ups hid the eggs. All 188 plastic eggs.
That is right – only 3 girls this year. Olive, Ally and Kai. There was some sickness going around so a bunch of people could not make it. And it was the first weekend of our Spring Break so some of our usual friends could not join us as they were out of town. But these 3 had a blast finding all of the eggs. Kai told her parents later it was fun “because it was not so crowded and I found so m any eggs”
That was their haul! It was cold outside so after all the eggs were found we headed inside to open them all up. The very first thing they did was each selected 6 eggs for Liem, Kai’s brother who was sick.
Plastic lip whistles, light up rings, candy, erasers, sidewalk chalk, plastic bugs, these were just a few of the things inside the eggs.
After that it was time for dinner. The girls enjoyed having a table all to themselves.
Olive’s dad Drew and I had fun with the peep wreath.
The girls enjoyed cake pops for dessert.
After dinner we headed to the park. Ally and Olive were all smiles and giggles on this balance swing.
Eventually we said good bye to our friends and settled down. Ally opened the Easter cards she had received in the mail. Grandma Barbie and Grandpa Frank sent her $5.00. The best of all gift was from Aunt Beth. Above Ally is reading it.
Here she realizes what it is and holds it up for pictures – a gift card to our local book store.
We left the next morning for Chicago, but when we got home there was another Easter gift waiting for Ally, from Aunt Pam and Uncle Tom. Pez and a National G.eographic animal book.
It was a fun day, and we are so grateful for family and friends.
