London Day 1

That is us at the airport in Boston waiting to board our flight to London. We left Boston at 7:00pm on a 7 hour direct flight to London, arriving there at 7am.

Ally did her best to sleep on the plane. She tried very hard and probably got about 3 hours of sleep. Me too.
Becky got about 5. On our descent into London we could see the London Eye, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace. It was a quick peek through the clouds. After a moderate wait at immigration we met our driver and headed to our friends' house. We ate some breakfast and then headed out to a local park in their North London neighborhood. Alexandra Park, which is on the grounds of Alexandra Palace, now known at Ally Pally, which is basically used an an event center now for local festivals and concerts. We had a great view of London from the highest point in London. Then we rode the bus to a cute shopping area and had lunch at a traditional pub. Hanh ordered coffee and they brought her an entire pot! After lunch Ally was so exhausted, only 3 hours of sleep. She and Andrew and the kids took an Uber back to their apartment while Hanh, Becky and I did some shopping. Once at home there was some game playing and lots of trying to keep Ally awake! She and Khai dyed eggs for Easter and Liem went to the park to play football (soccer) with his dad. After dinner it was shower and bedtime. Everyone went to sleep early except me. Which was kind of good, because for once I wasn't awake at 3 or 4am! What a great first day of our trip.
