Friday night there was a BBQ for Ally's gymnastics team - she has been with the same group of 14 girls for 2 years now and even though there are some personality issues and some age differences it is a really nice group of girls and parents.
In height order just like at practice and competition. The girls were paired up with the girl on her right and given a medal to create for her team mate. Then a couple hours later each girl had to give the medal to her partner. It was adorable and hilarious and uplifting to hear what each girl said.
Silly pose! with crazy faces.
The family that hosted had a sectional couch that fit the entire team!
Ally's partner was Mari - the shortest on the team - so this is the tallest and the smallest. Here is the list of what each girl said:
- Ally to Mari you make practice fun!
- Mari to Becca you always control your power best back tuck
- Becca to Mia you never give up on beam
- Mia to Persifoni you’re always great on beam
- Persifoni to MacKenzie you’re a hard worker
- MacKenzie to Autumn you’re always working hard
- Autumn to Katie you’re super flexible
- Katie to Lucy you’re easy to work with and nice and joke around
- Lucy to Stella you’re a brave gymnast
- Stella to Dahlia you try hard
- Dahlia to Eliana you’re always on time
- Eliana to Noelle you make everything more fun
- Noelle to Katherine you’re everything a great friend and teammate could be
- Katherine to Ally you’re the best listener
Then after that a really fun activity took place. Saran Wrap Balls! I never heard of such a thing, but one of the moms collected a bunch of trinkets and candy and wrapped them all in a ball with shrink wrap. The balls were about 12" in diameter when the girls started - there were 3 balls in the circle. One girl would un wrap and the girl to her left would roll a pair of dice and she got doubles she would grab the ball and start to unravel it while the girl to her left would start to roll. 3 pairs doing this at the same time. As you unraveled you would collect things that came out of the ball.
It was hilarious and LOUD the girls would squeal and scream with excitement.
Such a fun time. We are so glad to be a part of this team. Below are the girls with their coach Kristin:
Saturday we attended Charlie's wife Karin's 50th birthday party. We spent a lot of time talking with Gwei about her Sr. Prom the night before and her upcoming high school graduation.
Ally and Gwei above and a family picture for them below!
I will admit it was a lot of socializing for our family. But its nice to have so many nice people in our different social circles.
