Mother's Day for us means mini-golf with my mom and dad. I'm not sure how many years now - its since before Ally was born. This was the first year Ally could really play with us and understand what was going on. It was a blast!
Ally at the start - with her red ball.
Grandma Barbie started us off. This year she decided to buck tradition and instead of choosing her favorite color for a ball she chose to match her outfit. She wore a blaze orange vest and had a bright orange ball to match.
Grandpa Frank and Ally
Ally's position and method of holding the club to hit the ball was challenging to watch. I think my dad must have tried to give instructions on the proper way about 5 times.
Another great pose
But as long as the ball goes in the hole, who cares about form!
For the record I did finally show Ally how to hold the club and hit the ball correctly and for about 3 holes she did fantastic - she hit the ball properly and got it in the hole in 3 shots. But soon she tired of the "right way" and went back to her way.
Check out my awesome form
In another fantastic shot, Grandma Barbie hit a hole in one! (she is the only one in our group to ever do this, and I think this is her 3rd one in all the years we ahve been playing). Becky and I thought this year it was the power of the orange.
Becky as usual was so serious in her game. It paid off though - she placed 2nd. The final results were:
Dad / Grandpa Frank
Becky
Julie
Mom / Grandma Barbie
Ally - we told her her score did not matter so its not like she came in last.
This year there were bouncy houses at the golf course - so we let Ally jump around after the golf game.
The group at the course! It was a beautiful weather day - no rain and perfect temperature.
After mini golf it was off to Jumpin Jacks for lunch.
Grandma Barbie had a steak sandwich as usual, with extra sauce.
Ally ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich from home, french fries and split a chocolate shake with Grandma. Of course Grandpa suggested ice cream for dessert.
Becky and her cone
What a fun day!
Ally loved that she could stand on the picnic table bench and be the tallest person in the picture!
