Another aspect of party prep is cleaning the house or “decluttering”. This is not an easy task when your daughter is a pack rat. We spent several hours as a family on Saturday morning straightening and sorting and boxing up.
Then in the afternoon Becky took Ally to the zoo and I did the dirty work and filled a huge black trash bag with 3 years of Ally papers. I did look at them and saved interesting or too sweet or sentimental. But in the end I whittled it down to about 30 things. There are still boxes of paper in the basement. But its better.
Here are the zoo pictures. They had a blast.
The gorillas are always a favorite. They interacted with people observing them for a long time. Ally said the baby one would come pound the window a lot. But she wasn’t scared.
After walking around outside on the cold blustery day, they headed inside the café to warm up. Ally drank hot chocolate, ate French fries and was thrilled to watch Animal Trivia on TV. Becky said Ally was “in her glory”. It was perfect.
A baby zebra was born on October 16 and Ally was excited to go and meet him, his name is Jakobi.
The playground at the zoo is always fun and so was t he giant leaf pile!
