The Epic Trip to Hawaii

The forecast called for the 4th major snowstorm in 4 weeks. A blizzard was due on the day we were scheduled to leave for Hawaii.
I called the airlines for 3 days to try and get our flights rebooked. No luck unless we wanted to pay $1300 or $1800 each! We explained to Ally that with the storm out flights might be canceled. She took it pretty well and asked if we should call Lauren to tell her. And then went on to suggest that we could double up on activities to fit everything in. Ally totally understood we couldn't spend that kind of money.
But all of us really wanted to get to Hawaii. Over 79" of snow has fallen in the past 3 weeks.
Finally on Friday around noon the airline declared a weather advisory. I called right away, waited on hold for 45 minutes and then spent another 45 minutes booking tickets. We got the last 3 seats available on Friday. They even booked us on First Class for our first flight. We flew Boston to DC then DC to Dallas. We spent the night in Dallas at the airport hotel. In the morning we ordered room service for breakfast and then headed back to the airport for our flight to Honolulu.
It was a crazy rush from 115 when I got off until we got to the airport at 310. Becky left school early, and I picked Ally up early too. Her teachers jumped up and down and hugged her with excitement when I told them we were going to the airport. Ally's class called out to her and cheered her on.
It was pajama day on Friday at school so Ally made the trip to Dallas in her penguin  pajamas.
This is how much snow we have in our front yard.

Sitting in first class.

At the hotel at last. Ally was thrilled to have her own little bed.

Oatmeal from room service.

We took turns taking our pictures.

Then Ally asked for one solo.

It was an 8 1/2 flight and Ally watched some tv shows and movies, slept and blew bubbles.

In Hawaii you walk outside thru the airport to get to baggage claim. Our rental car wasn't scheduled until the next day so cousin Kimn picked us up at the airport.

She gave us each a lei. It felt so good to be in Hawaii.
