Italy Day 3: Last day in Venice, on to Florence

We started our second and final day in Venice with another great breakfast at our hotel. Then we headed out to find a gondola and do some shopping.

Ally just looks so grown up lately I can hardly stand it.

Sisters posing at a map of Venice carved in the wall of the church across from our hotel.

Beth asked this nice couple to join us on our gondola ride. They seat 6 and it’s fixed price so we and they saved money and had someone else to take group pictures of us! It worked out well.

The gondola ride was pretty great. It is cliche but so necessary in my opinion. We went out on the Grand Canal and then in and among the little canals.

Becky kissing the ship’s decoration for a “silly photo” everyday we have a photo contest.
Then after the gondola ride we ended up back in San Marco square and today it was even more open than yesterday. And since Ally wasn’t wearing a dress she did some handstands.

Sometimes I just had to pause and take pictures. It really was so very beautiful.

After a break back at our hotel we went out for gelato and walked around for a long time. It was super hot and humid.

A bit cooler on the Grand Canal.

But after a while we stopped for a lunch bite and some drinks.

Ally played on her phone a bit.

Beth downed her 3rd espresso of the trip.

And toasted with Becky. Who also posed with a silly sugar packet.

Awesome picture of Ally!

Soon after we walked back to our hotel, picked up our luggage and took a water taxi to the train station. One to Florence. Good bye Venice.

In Florence, we hailed a cab, made our way to the hotel, which is a lovely efficiency 2 room apartment in a full service hotel. Perfect for us. We didn’t arrange for breakfast this stay, and planned on getting some groceries to just eat breakfast in our room and have snacks on hand.

At the local supermarket we found meringue cookies!!! Medium size ones.

And mini ones, that are the size of chocolate chips.
Can you tell Ally was excited.
Then we got dressed up for dinner.

Turns out Ally and Beth have matching dresses! They posed for the picture and then admitted it felt weird to be dressed so much alike and so Ally changed.

They sure looked great!

Free glass of wine at the restaurant. The sisters sure loved that.

They ended the night with another glass on the terrace at our hotel.
