For the first 6 weeks of the summer Ally attended summer day-camp at her old preschool. Her friend Stella was there every week (and Stella's little sister Violet) and usually a few other kids she knew from when she attended school there. Of course the teachers are the main reason we decided to send Ally for what will be her last experience there - Tracy and Trillian were 2 of the 4 teachers. As usual Ally had a wonderful time.
waiting for something and being silly with Stella
Each week was a theme - painting was one week
And of course the children get to experience the medium in different ways each day.
I think they were tracking a bug
having storied read to them, and dance parties and just general fun
Bubbles was another theme - check out that huge one Ally is making with the hula hoop!
She blew bubbles into Stella's hands. Ally was so excited about the bubbles she would tell me about it after work.
Ally always tells people her camp has 3 pools. Then the adult looks at me like "what kind of expensive camp is this with 3 pools?" then Ally giggles and says they are really small pools
Clay was a theme. Here is Ally making a pinch pot, which she learned how to do in Art Class last year in junior kindergarten.
making eggs for the nest
Her finished creation
Once a week a dance teacher came to give the dance and movement class.
Its always lots of fun to have "dance class with Katy" she does a wonderful job with the children.
parachutes, balloons, hula hoops, scarves - I know one week they were acting as if they were firecrackers and another week they were bugs
Lined up with 3 other big kids - Ally, Alina (who will be going to kindergarten with Ally in September), Erik (who is in her kindergarten class - so that makes 4 years they have been in the same class) and Stella.
swinging, hanging and flipping on the bar was one of her favorite things
The school has been such a nurturing educational experience for Ally we are sad to say good bye for good. But we have many friends we've made and look forward to continuing our friendships.
