2 month check up at the Pain Clinic

Ally had her 2 month check up at the pain clinic recently. It was long, 5 hours. We saw her psychologist, her attending physician and Ally had an OT and a PT evaluation, and we had appointments with each, then we had lunch and finally an exit meeting with one of the clinic directors.
Long day. I was in tears of joy a few times. Ally is doing so very well. Really well. At PT she surpassed the goals set for her, and aced their treadmill test. The physician even told us he thought Ally would be pain free by the end of the summer. He never gives prognosis like that about pain. He said he felt very confident.
We feel so lucky and blessed to have Ally be a shining success at this program.
Each person lectured Ally on the importance of eating and sleeping. They all tried hard to explain that she needs to eat, and eat a lot of high protein and calorie foods to keep her energy up with all of her physica activity. Hunger and sleep leave her body vulnerable to the pain messages from her nerves. Ally has been better about food since then, but it is still a struggle and probably always will be something we work on.
The doctor gave Ally full clearance for gymnastics and dance, and said he didn't think it was too much for Ally to start practicing gymnastics 3 times a week and stepping up ballet yo twice a week. The important thing is for Ally to stay active. She needs to be exercising every day, whether that is practice or dance or wa long walk or intense activity on the Kinect or swimming. It's essential to her continued good health that she revise every day.

It was pretty emotional and exhausting. After the appointment Ally actually came home and took a nap, and then went to a birthday party, that was #6 in the month of June. She had a great time, but she was tired.

We made sure to say hello to every one and check out her tile.
