Sunday morning pancake breakfast in bed for Ally. Another change in appetite, after months of only wanting chocolate chip pancakes now she prefers plain with maple syrup. And this week she’s been enjoying fresh raspberries.
After their hike Beth and Becky continued with gingerbread construction.
Ally and I worked on a 12 days of Christmas puzzle.
We finally decorated our Christmas tree!
And got a surprise cupcake delivery from Katy.
Yummmmy
Another day, another advent gift.
On Monday Grandma Debbie and Poppy sent us pictures of their completed gingerbread house, the log cabin was pretty amazing.
On Tuesday Ally had an MRI on her ankle. It was a long wait at Children’s but Ally was patient and a trooper as usual. Me, I was gagging from the hospital issue mask they make us wear and I kept rolling my stress-relief essential oil roller ball on it. Ally told me later that I was wear it inside out. Maybe that’s why it smelled so bad?
She loves this cat.
But doesn’t love me taking pictures of her and the completed puzzle.
Beth came over on Wednesday night in advance of the snow storm so she a s Becky could finish the mansion.
Ally was psyched to open a Fab Fit Fun box.
She was delighted with the box of goodies.
Advent gift of strawberry scented body butter.
We woke up to lots of snow on Thursday morning. We got about 12”.
To pass the time we dressed Cloey up.
She gets ridiculously excited every day to see what the advent beauty treat is.
Daisy is truly Ally’s emotional support animal. The love between them is incredible.
Becky meanwhile has a pet squash.
It’s been living in our kitchen for months. I do not share her affection and insisted it relocate.
Becky showing off the most 2020 appropriate teacher gift; it’s a headband with buttons to take the weight of the elastic off your ears.
On Friday Ally had a secret Santa swim party to attend with her gymnastics team.
She wore flip flip slides!
And yes that is the team; many including Ally in a bikini out in the snow. Mari has a new pool and it’s heated to 100+ degrees right now.
It was so cold the steam from the pool! Ally said it was so much fun.
But she was cold and tired when she got home. And so happy to snuggle with Daisy. She asked me to run her feet to get them warmed up. And she asked for some dinner, turns out she only ate 1/2 piece of pizza and a lollipop. It was 9pm when she got home and had been gone since 330 and ate lunch at 12. She was so hungry. Becky whipped her up some scrambled eggs and Ally ate and chatted with us.
Saturday morning, we tried out Cloey’s boots.
Cloey was not happy, and refused to climb the stairs.
Waiting for Daniela
COVID milestone for us; a house guest! Daniela came over. The girls wore masks inside, sat a ways apart and painted. They were on the 3rd fooor where we have a HEPA air scrubber set up and opened the windows.
Since Daniela had COVID in October it’s pretty low risk that she would give it to us or get it again, but we all agreed it was better to be safe than sorry.
That’s the water color painting Ally did while Daniela was over.
Becky spent a few hours on Saturday and made Ally’s ornament.
A Coronavirus with a mask on it. We figured this was pretty representative of 2020.
Pictured on the tree with Becky made ornaments of years past; Ernie, Emoji, Chick, rainbow, our new house, Daisy, Buddy the dinosaur, Guatemala to name a few of them. It’s such a special tradition.
Ally knew what it was right away and agreed it was perfect for this very odd year.
Saturday night was movie night; White Christmas with Aunt Beth.
We video chatted with grandma and poppy afterwards. It’s not the same as being with them and we miss them but in this strange year we do what we must to stay safe and healthy.
