First Snow of 2012

Saturday was the first real storm storm this year. We got about 5" over all. It started in the morning, which meant we went to gymnastics during the storm. We were t he first ones there, and Ally was so good, she ran right into the gym when class started and did the warm up running all by herself until the other kids started to arrive. The coaches were all smiling at her running in her blue sparkly leotard all by herself with her signature smile. It was great!
Then we came home, and Ally had a play date with her friend Adalis from school. The girls played well and after a couple of hours Adalis mom picked her up, and Ally was so excited to go outside and play in the snow.
First up was making snow angels!

Then it was time for the work - snow shoveling. Ally was a huge help - it was light fluffy snow and she has her own shovel. More than one neighbor stopped to comment on her work ethic!
Once the driveway and sidewalk were clear, Ally started shoveling the street so she could try and get enough snow to make a big pile.
scoop, carry
dump
the pile never got as big as the one from last year that she could actually sled down
But it was fun anyway - and here she is all cold. She is so funny, she said "remember last year when I got cold I could drink something?" Of course I had to ask if that was juice or milk or what? And finally I said "hot cocoa" and she smiled really big and asked if we had marshmallows.
Here she is putting an ice cube in her luke warm cocoa. But she loved the experience, and we had fun calling Grandma Debbie and Poppy to tell them about our day.
